On the 28th July 2010 Rasta (Ch.Hochspitz Sirocco) produced 10 puppies to Hamish (Ch.Arkolowe Arctic Kiss). Sadly one of the boys was stillborn and unable to be revived but we were left with 6 girls and 3 boys and Rasta avoided a c-section for that last little stillborn by the skin of her teeth. The first nine were born without much fuss, although after the first 5 at home there was quite a gap and rather than risk it I took the little family off to the vets to have the rest of the pups. With some oxytocin to help the next 4 were born in reasonably quick succession but then a couple of hours before the stillborn one was finally pushed out. I was very relieved to get Rasta home surgery free!

Hamish is bred by Kathy Bieleny and owned by Lee Thomson. Many thanks to Kathy and Lee for being so accommodating in making sure this mating happened without a hitch, especially to Lee for trusting me to look after her boy while he did the deed. It left Lee's home "manless" for a few days, while my home was testosterone city! Hamish has the most wonderful, laid back temperament, he is well put together and a really nice mover and matches up really well with Rasta. The mating also provides a good outcross.
I am really excited to see how these pups turn out. Hamish pictured below.
